Restricted free agent Garry Gilliam has signed a one-year one year offer sheet with the San Francisco 49ers worth $2.2 million with $1.4 million guaranteed, a league source said Monday.
Gilliam has started 29 games at right tackle for the Seattle Seahawks the past two seasons. Because the Seahawks tendered Gilliam at the lowest level (one year at $1.797 million, non-guaranteed), they will not receive any draft pick compensation if they let Gilliam walk. Seattle has five days to match the 49ers' offer.
San Francisco previously offered Gilliam a multi-year deal, which he turned down. A one-year contract allows him to test unrestricted free agency next offseason at the age of 27.
The Seahawks' options at right tackle going into 2017 are limited. If Gilliam joins the 49ers, Seattle would most likely give Germain Ifedi a shot to replace him. Ifedi, a first-round pick in 2016, started 13 games at guard as a rookie.
Gilliam originally signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State in 2014.
