Ireland A completed an impressive victory over South Africa, 28-11, as they outscored the tourists by three tries to one in Limerick on Wednesday evening.
The South Africans managed just a Gaffie du Toit penalty in the first half as Ireland achieved a 14-3 interval lead.
And although du Toit added another penalty and a try in the second period, it was not enough to overcome the hosts.
Ireland's tries came from Justin Bishop, Mike Mullins and Tom Tierney, with Jeremy Staunton converting two of them as well as kicking three penalties.
The Boks' lack of life up front translated into a jittery performance from a backline constantly finding themselves receiving man and ball at the same time.
And, to add insult to injury, SA finished the match with only 14 men on the field. Bok No 8 AJ Venter was sin-binned for an unnecessary and ill-disciplined late charge on Ireland A flyhalf and Man of the Match Jeremy Staunton, with five minutes left on the clock.
At no stage did the Boks look capable of winning. They reserved their one fluid backline movement for the dying moments of the game, with fullback Gaffie Du Toit collecting the ball at pace to race in at the corner.
Du Toit scored all his team's points, with two penalties to add to his try. Staunton earned himself a match haul of 13 points.
Scorers:
Springboks - Try: Gaffie du Toit; Penalties: Du Toit (2).
Ireland A - Tries: Justin Bishop, Mike Mullins and Tom Tierney; Penalties: Jeremy Staunton (3); Conversions: Staunton (2).
