Adelaide
Stocks up: You can always count on Rory Laird! That's two consecutive weeks of 36 touches for the Adelaide star, who added 10 clearances and a goal to his game on Sunday, proving to be the Eagles' biggest contest headache.
Stocks down: Young gun Harry Schoenberg looked lively with 21 disposals and a classy goal, but the dynamic forward was the least effective Crow on the field, going at just 38 percent disposal efficiency!
Brisbane
Stocks up: Many Lions had a day out against their cross-town rivals in the QClash demolition, but Jarryd Lyons was on another level, racking up 37 disposals, nine clearances and nine tackles to take home the Marcus Ashcroft Medal against his former club.
Stocks down: You can't help but feel for the milestone man... A Ryan Lester hamstring injury, hardly 15 minutes into his 150th match, soured Brisbane's monstrous win. Darcy Gardiner also left the field late nursing what seemed to be an exasperating shoulder issue.
Carlton
Stocks up: He was nursing a shoulder injury all game, but it didn't stop Harry McKay from influencing the game against Melbourne. The Coleman Medal leader kept the Blues in it with three goals. Not to mention laying one of the tackles of the game!
Stocks down: Big Levi Casboult just isn't doing enough at the moment to justify his spot in the team. Against the Dees, he had just seven touches and failed to have any meaningful impact.
Collingwood
Stocks up: He's rightly featured as a stock down this season, but credit where it's due! Will Hoskin-Elliott was plonked onto a wing and blossomed with a major and 21 touches - his highest possession tally in over three years. Is this the position change that can revitalise the flexible Pie?
Stocks down: Is it worse to say Collingwood kicked five goals in four quarters or one goal in three? Either way, registering 1.10 after quarter time was the death of the Pies on Saturday afternoon, whose alarming issues inside 50 remain.
Essendon
Stocks up: Darcy Parish has taken his game to new heights in 2021 and this continued in the Bombers' thrilling win over the Dockers. The gun midfielder racked up a game high 39 disposals and 10 clearances, which takes his season average to 29 and seven.
Stocks down: Devon Smith is in this side to apply pressure but he laid just two tackles in the win over the Dockers. Add in the fact he finished with seven touches and it was a pretty poor outing.
Fremantle
Stocks up: It was a disappointing result overall for a team that will be looking to hover around the eight for most of the season, but that Dockers midfield is something to build around. Andrew Brayshaw (33 touches), Adam Cerra (28) and Nat Fyfe (28) all thrived off Sean Darcy's ruck dominance, they just couldn't win the stat that mattered!
Stocks down: Not a single kick! Really, Mitch Crowden? Just the nine handballs for the tough mid, who was also the only player on the field who failed to lay a single tackle at Marvel Stadium. Not good enough.
Geelong
Stocks up: Last week it was the forward line which got the job done, this week it was the midfield. Cam Guthrie and Mitch Duncan are two of the more underrated players going in the league, and on Friday night they combined for 66 disposals and 21 marks as the Cats overcame the Saints.
Stocks down: Tick it off and move on to next week. The Cats banked four points but they were far from convincing at times. Against a more polished outfit, they would have likely been shown up. This inconsistency (particularly when you consider last week's demolition of Richmond) is a concern.
Gold Coast
Stocks up: For the second consecutive week, David Swallow was a shining light for the Suns. Easily Gold Coast's best player in a tough night at Metricon Stadium.
Stocks down: Just five touches and no score for Izak Rankine in the QClash. We know he's talented but the hype isn't quite justified as yet...
GWS
Stocks up: He plays alongside some bigger names but Jacob Hopper stole the show in the midfield. He finished with 35 touches, 11 clearances, seven tackles and a goal. Surely three votes, if not for Dusty...
Stocks down: Had Harry Himmelberg done something, anything, the Giants might have actually beaten the Tigers on Saturday night. Just one kick, no score and no tackles is worthy of being sent back to the twos for next week.
Hawthorn
Stocks up: Liam Shiels was just about Hawthorn's best player on Saturday afternoon. He had 560 metres gained, 10 score involvements, 24 touches and a goal in the loss to North.
Stocks down: If Alastair Clarkson really is as good as everyone says, why are the Hawks 2-7 and second last on the ladder? For the second week in a row, it's stocks down for Clarko and the Hawthorn Football Club. The last time they had a record this poor after nine rounds was 2004. Where to from here?
Melbourne
Stocks up: There are stories galore for Melbourne this year and one of them is the rise of James Jordon, who is relishing his chance with the red and blue. The hard-working mid-forward had 20 touches and 13 tackles on a soggy MCG, as his Demons cruised to 9-0!
Stocks down: Positions are going to be harder to come by as the season goes on for Melbourne who now look certain to be there when the whips a cracking, and four touches for young Kade Chandler may not do his chances of enjoying the Demons' inevitable success any favours.
North Melbourne
Stocks up: How about North Melbourne?! A sweet, sweet victory for a club that has been starved of success for so long. Well done.
Stocks down: There wasn't a lot not to like about North's first win of the season, but Tarryn Thomas' one-match ban for a high hit on Hawthorn's Changkuoth Jiath doesn't cap off what would otherwise be a perfect weekend for the future star who was great against the Hawks.
Port Adelaide
Stocks up: There's no doubt Ollie Wines is in career best form. He tallied another 32 touches against the Bulldogs, laid eight tackles and kicked a goal. On track for All-Australian selection at this rate.
Stocks down: Port's credibility has taken another hit. This is now the third loss they've suffered to a flag contender. Are they simply just a step off the pace?
Richmond
Stocks up: You can't keep a champion down, and after a lacklustre return from a spell due to concussion, Dustin Martin was back at his bullocking, boisterous best in a match-winning performance for the Tigers. He had 28 disposals, five clearances and kicked 4.2 on the night.
Stocks down: Yes, it's cold, yes it's Marvel Stadium, yes there's post-pandemic anxiety, and yes, the Giants don't have a huge travelling fan base, but stop making excuses for just 18,000 fans turning up to see the Tigers' win. They're always quick to boast about having 100,000 members (and countless more supporters), but not even cracking 20k in a prime time slot is incredibly poor for a side which has won three of the past four flags.
St Kilda
Stocks up: It might seem crazy to say stocks are rising on a guy who kicked 1.5 in a loss, but how can you not be excited by Max King!? The young tall could have had a career night against Geelong if he kicked straight. As it was, his four contested marks, three inside 50s, and nine score involvements was a mighty effort.
Stocks down: Ratts, we feel your pain, but you just can't go off at the umpires after a loss. Brett Ratten's post game comments on Friday night were a little naughty. Expect a fine in the mail this week
Sydney
Stocks up: Isaac Heeney is a star. He was back to his best on Saturday afternoon, kicking three goals from his 22 touches in a come-from-behind win over Collingwood at the SCG.
Stocks down: He finished with two goals but Buddy still looks un-Buddylike. We aren't saying his stocks are plumeting, but they certainly aren't as high as they were a few weeks back, pre-injury.
West Coast
Stocks up: Optus Stadium has a new record for goals in a quarter, and it belong to Jack Darling. The Eagles forward booted five in the second term in one of the most dominant big man displays we've seen all year long!
Stocks down: Bailey Williams' five touches isn't going to be enough to stay in this team when reinforements come. You feel he probably has just one more chance to impress.
Western Bulldogs
Stocks up: Just when you think Marcus Bontempelli is firing on all cylinders, he goes and does THAT! Two goals, two goal assists, seven inside 50s and 26 touches in a huge win over the Power.
Stocks down: You hate to see it, but Easton Wood is set for some time on the sidelines after hobbling off Adelaide Oval with a hamstring injury.
