Kelvin Benjamin could miss Sunday's game against Dolphins

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- After Buffalo Bills receiver Kelvin Benjamin missed almost three full games because of a torn meniscus in his right knee, he could be in jeopardy of missing Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins.

Benjamin twice limped off the field late in last Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts, saying after the game that he aggravated his knee injury when falling hard in the snow trying to catch passes from Joe Webb.

He was a limited participant in both Wednesday and Thursday practices this week, and when asked about Benjamin's health Thursday, coach Sean McDermott kept his comments brief.

"He's working," McDermott said. "He did a little bit more today than he did yesterday."

Walking with a noticeable limp in the locker room after practice, Benjamin declined an interview request and told reporters he needed to go to the training room.

If Benjamin cannot play Sunday, it will be the third game he will miss because of injury since being acquired in an Oct. 31 trade.

Without Benjamin, the Bills' top receivers would be Deonte Thompson and Zay Jones against the Dolphins, with the possibility of Andre Holmes, Brandon Tate and practice squad call-up Brandon Reilly also seeing time.

Thompson started last Sunday's game against the Colts and played in more snaps (85 percent) than Jones (61 percent), who has slid into the slot receiver role in place of Jordan Matthews. Offensive coordinator Rick Dennison said Monday that Thompson and Jones could split time moving forward.

Matthews, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this month, underwent knee and ankle surgeries Thursday, according to an Instagram post.
