Renowned surgeon Dr. Robert Anderson joins Packers' medical team

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- If you’re an NFL player and have a foot or ankle injury, there’s a good chance you’ll come to Green Bay.

That’s where the renowned Dr. Robert Anderson, surgeon to many star athletes, will be setting up shop. He has joined the Green Bay Packers' medical team and will partner in a new practice at the Bellin Health Titletown Sports Medicine and Orthopedics that will open next month adjacent to Lambeau Field.

Anderson has a long history of working on Packers players -- most recently center Corey Linsley, who underwent ankle surgery after last season. Last year, Anderson performed ankle surgery on former Packers running back Eddie Lacy. He also repaired the ankle of Packers running back Ty Montgomery during the 2015 season.

Anderson’s practice had previously been in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he also served as an assistant team physician for the Carolina Panthers. He will serve in a similar capacity with the Packers under their head physician, Dr. Pat McKenzie. Anderson, a Wisconsin native, has known McKenzie since their days at Medical College of Wisconsin.

“I was ecstatic about it,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. “I think it’s not only a great thing for the Green Bay Packers, it’s a tremendous asset to our community. Dr. Anderson is the best in the business. Every foot, ankle injury conversation that I’ve been a part of as a head coach, his name always comes up. And it’s been that way for 20 years, in my 20-plus years in the National Football League. So, having Dr. Anderson in our community is outstanding. I’m thrilled that Bellin and Dr. McKenzie and Dr. Anderson, what they’re developing here with Titletown Orthopedics.”

Anderson has also treated Cam Newton, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Derek Jeter and several other athletes across multiple sports.

The new medical facility in Green Bay is part of the Packers’ Titletown District, which will include a luxury hotel plus a microbrewery/restaurant.

“We are very excited to have Dr. Anderson join the team at Titletown Sports Medicine and Orthopedics,” Packers president Mark Murphy said in a statement. “Bringing in a physician of Dr. Anderson’s caliber will help Bellin Health get off to a great start.”
