SEATTLE -- Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider shot down any speculation that the team might trade tight end Jimmy Graham, saying Sunday in a pregame radio interview that it's not happening.
"We talk about this all the time, that we're in as many deals as we possibly can be, so we're listening to every scenario we possibly can," Schneider told 710 ESPN Seattle before the Seahawks hosted the Houston Texans. "What I can tell you is that Jimmy's not being traded. So he'll be here. These things get leaked and it's been probably several weeks now that this was out there. Somebody reported it today. It's not true."
Graham is in the final year of his contract with the Seahawks and his name has been mentioned in trade rumors with the NFL's trade deadline coming up on Tuesday. Trading Graham seems unlikely for several reasons, including his hefty salary (any team trading for Graham would have to take on the remainder of his $7.9 million base salary for 2017) and his recent contributions to Seattle's offense.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll also shot down a possible Graham trade, telling the NFL Network's Mike Silver that it's not happening.
Cornerback Jeremy Lane remains a player to keep an eye on with the trade deadline approaching.
