The Seattle Seahawks will have Pro Bowl linebackers Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright available for Sunday's must-win game against the Cowboys in Dallas.
Wright cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and practiced all week while coach Pete Carroll declared Wagner good to go with his lingering hamstring injury. Wagner didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and has hardly practiced at all in recent weeks in order to rest his ailing hamstring, but the team listed him as a full participant Friday.
That followed Carroll's saying that Wagner made it out of last week's loss to the Rams no worse off. His status for that game had been in question all the way up until about 90 minutes before kickoff. The team pulled him midway through the third quarter when Los Angeles took a 40-0 lead.
“He couldn’t do anything last week," Carroll said. "We didn’t see him until Sunday, so he’s well ahead of that. That’s a great sign because he was able to play last week. We took him out when we had to, and he came out of the game better than he was the week before. The whole week has turned out to be a real positive for him.”
The Seahawks need to beat Dallas (4:25 p.m. ET, FOX) and Arizona at home in Week 17 to maintain any shot at reaching the playoffs. They'll also need help from other teams, as detailed here.
Starting defensive end Frank Clark (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. He was added to the team's injury report after Carroll met with the media, so his situation is unclear. The team listed him as limited Friday.
Starting strong safety Bradley McDougald (knee) is listed as questionable, but Carroll said he's fine. Backup tight end Nick Vannett (shoulder) is also questionable. Rookie Nazair Jones -- a contributor in Seattle's defensive line rotation -- is listed as doubtful, so he'll likely miss his fourth straight game due to a high ankle sprain. Backup linebacker D.J. Alexander (concussion) is out.
Carroll said cornerback DeShawn Shead has a chance to play Sunday but was vague about the team's plans. Shead, a former starter who tore his ACL in the playoffs last January, is on the physically unable to perform list and just completed his third week of practice. The team would have to activate him by the middle of next week in order for Shead to be eligible to play this season.
Asked if he'll be activated ahead of Sunday's game, Carroll said, “We’re going to see in a little bit. We’ll see if we can do it or not. We’ll let you know.”
Carroll said running back Chris Carson's status hasn't changed. He remains on injured reserve and has yet to resume practicing.
