Louisville is the hotbed in Kentucky

Even though the state of Kentucky pales in comparison to other states in the Southeast, there is clearly top talent there as evident by Notre Dame, Southern California, Vanderbilt, Louisville and Kentucky all picking up commitments from the top 10 prospects in the Bluegrass State.

The quarterback position has been strong over the past two years -- Patrick Towles and Zeke Pike signed with Kentucky and Auburn in 2012, respectively. This year, quarterback Kyle Bolin, a Lexington, Ky., native, has been committed to Louisville since September. However, the city of Louisville is the talent bed as five of the top nine prospects reside there. Surprisingly, the Cardinals haven't taken advantage of the nearby talent, unlike Southern California with ESPN 300 defensive end Jason Hatcher (Louisville, Ky./Trinity), Vanderbilt with cornerback Ryan White (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) and Kansas with offensive tackle Joey Bloomfield (Louisville, Ky./Ballard).

Offensive tackle Hunter Bivin is the highest-rated commitment from Kentucky. The ESPN 150 offensive tackle from Owensboro (Ky.) Apollo committed to Notre Dame in March and is considered the second-best prospect in the state.
