How many managers have won the Champions League with different clubs? asked Geoffrey Alderson
Only five managers have won the Champions League -- formerly the European Cup -- with two different clubs.
The first to do it was the Austrian Ernst Happel, with Feyenoord in 1970 then SV Hamburg in 1983. He was followed by Ottmar Hitzfeld, who guided Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League in 1997 and Bayern Munich in 2001. Another German, Jupp Heynckes, won with Real Madrid in 1998 and Bayern Munich in 2013.
Jose Mourinho has also won it twice, with Porto in 2004 and Inter Milan in 2010.
Carlo Ancelotti went one better: he's won the Champions League three times as a manager, with AC Milan in 2003 and 2007, and Real Madrid in 2014. The only other man to win three European Cups is Bob Paisley, with Liverpool in 1977, 1978 and 1981.
13 other managers have won the trophy twice with the same club, including Brian Clough, in 1979 and 1980, and Alex Ferguson, in 1999 and 2008.
