Manchester City and Chelsea are interested in Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose, sources have told ESPN FC.
Rose, 24, is being monitored by both clubs as they consider whether to make a summer offer for the former England under-21 international, who has been called up to Roy Hodgson's senior squad this season.
City and Chelsea are both likely to be looking for a left-back and Rose's youth, speed and nationality would have particular appeal to the 2014 Premier League champions, who are lacking players who qualify as homegrown.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted they have to sign more British footballers and Rose would be a potential replacement for the former Lazio player Aleksandar Kolarov, who has said he would be tempted to return to Serie A.
Filipe Luis' future at Chelsea is the subject of speculation as the Brazilian, who joined from Atletico Madrid last summer, has made just seven league starts in his first year at Stamford Bridge.
Sources told ESPN FC last month that Chelsea are interested in West Ham left-back Aaron Cresswell, another Englishman who is also a reported target for City.
Rose, who has ambitions to play in the Champions League and challenge for trophies, would be expected to relish a move to either club if a bid materialised.
He would represent a relatively risk-free signing for either club after proving himself in the Premier League and coping with the pressure of playing for Tottenham, and has enjoyed a fine season at White Hart Lane.
One potential obstacle is the five-year contract Rose signed with Tottenham last summer, but Spurs have a ready-made replacement for Rose in Ben Davies.
The Welshman, who joined from Swansea last summer for £10 million, has been limited to nine Premier League starts by Rose's fine form.
