Patrick Mahomes heaves pass to Tyreek Hill for 54-yard somersault TD

The Kansas City Chiefs tied the game in the fourth quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers on a 54-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to wide receiver Tyreek Hill on Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

It was the longest completed pass of the season for Mahomes.

Hill got behind the defense and laid out to make the catch and somersaulted short of the goal line. But he popped up off the ground before defenders had a chance to touch him down and reached the end zone. The Chiefs tied the game 17-17 on a 2-point conversion catch by Mecole Hardman.

Mahomes was running at a speed of 11.2 mph and threw the ball 52.9 yards of air distance (point of throw to catch) on on the pass. It's only the third pass TD over the past four seasons in which a QB threw the ball 50-plus yards of air distance while running 10-plus mph.

The catch was Hill's 18th TD of at least 50 yards. That's tied for the most through a player's first five seasons in NFL history (Lance Alworth, Ollie Matson, Homer Jones, Lenny Moore).
