The New Orleans Saints have ruled out Michael Thomas for Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Chargers, with sources telling ESPN's Adam Schefter that the decision came after the star wide receiver had an altercation with a teammate at practice this weekend.
Thomas' altercation was with safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, according to multiple reports and confirmed by ESPN.
Thomas had been listed as questionable with an ankle injury, but the Saints updated his status Sunday to out, saying the change was not related to injury.
Thomas, who has been sidelined by an ankle injury since Week 1, had practiced on a limited basis every day for two straight weeks.
The three-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time All-Pro player has three catches for 17 yards in his only action this season.
He led the NFL last season with 149 catches (an NFL single-season record) and 1,725 receiving yards.
ESPN's Mike Triplett contributed to this report.
