Jaguars close facility and place 12 practice-squad players, Josh Mauro on reserve/COVID-19 list

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars are placing 13 players -- including 12 practice-squad players -- on the reserve/COVID-19 list after one player tested positive on Friday.

RB Nathan Cottrell, TE Ben Ellefson, LB Nate Evans, LB Joe Giles-Harris, WR Terry Godwin, WR Josh Hammond, OT Jared Hilbers, OL K.C. McDermott, DB Doug Middleton, DB Josh Nurse, OT Austin Pleasants, and WR Trey Quinn were placed on the practice squad/COVID-19 list. The Jaguars have practice-squad players sit together and apart from the players on the active roster during team meetings.

The Jaguars closed their facility on Saturday after the practice-squad player tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. The team said it consulted with the NFL and is following league protocols and is conducting football activities remotely. That the player had tested positive and was given a point-of-care (POC) test to confirm the positive result.

This is the first positive test for a Jaguars player since running back Ryquell Armstead was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Sept. 5
