SEATTLE -- The start time for the Seahawks' home game Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals at Lumen Field could change depending on what happens with their next-door neighbors, the Seattle Mariners.
The NFL announced Wednesday that kickoff of Seahawks-Cardinals will move back to 2:30 p.m. PT if the Mariners host the Houston Astros in Game 4 of the American League Divisional Series that day. First pitch is set for 12:07 p.m. if Game 4 is necessary. If not, kickoff will remain at 1:05 p.m.
When asked if the kickoff getting pushed back would change anything for the Seahawks, coach Pete Carroll responded, "No, not at all. Let's hope it gets moved back."
Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury echoed his counterpart, saying that the potential change in schedule won't affect his team's approach at all.
The Astros took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series on Tuesday. Game 2 is Thursday in Houston before the series moves to Seattle, with the Mariners hosting Game 3 on Saturday and, if needed, Game 4 on Sunday at T-Mobile Park.
Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park are a block from one another in Seattle's SoDo district, which is just south of downtown. The Mariners are making their first postseason appearance since 2001.
