Italian players test positive for steroids

Two Italian rugby union players, of national champions RDS Roma, have tested positive for anabolic steroids, the Italian Olympic committee (CONI) said on Wednesday.

Alfredo De Angelis and Ramiro Marcelo Tomietto were tested during a national league match at Piacenza in December last year.

The second sample confirmed the presence of traces of the banned drug.
Taking performance-enhancing drugs in sport is a criminal offence in Italy,
unlike the vast majority of countries.
