Boer take Premiership honour

Gloucester's South African flanker, Jake Boer, has won the Zurich Premiership Player of the Season Award.

The prestigious award is voted for by 10 print and broadcast journalists, taking into consideration outstanding performances in the Zurich Premiership this season.

Other highly commended players include Ludovic Mercier of Gloucester, Andrew Blowers of Northampton Saints and Richard Hill of Saracens.

Jake joined Gloucester after being named London Irish's Player of the Season 99/00. A bullocking South African who took a while to settle but has since earned the respect of players and fans alike with his honesty and commitment to the Gloucester cause.

His desire to win and his never-say-die attitude combined with strong tackling has won many admirers. Jake captained Gloucester to win this season's Powergen Cup and is sure to play a key part in Gloucester's plans for the Zurich Premiership Final on 31 May at Twickenham against London Wasps.

Jake will be presented with the Zurich Premiership Player of the Season Award at the Gloucester press conference to preview the Zurich Premiership Final at 12 noon on Wednesday 27 May at Kingsholm.
