Sasha Banks regains WWE Raw women's championship

The Sasha Banks-Charlotte rivalry just took another wild turn.

For the second time since the WWE kicked off its latest brand extension in July with a draft, Banks captured the Raw women's championship during an episode of "Monday Night Raw."

Banks forced Charlotte to tap out on Monday in the main event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles as WWE elected to move the title for the third time in three months.

Charlotte regained the title at SummerSlam in a wild match featuring high-risk spots that, at times, were sloppily executed. Monday's match was no different.

The high spot of the main event came late in the match when Charlotte continued to push the boundaries of women's wrestling by landing a corkscrew moonsault off the top rope and onto the floor. Charlotte landed the move, in part, because Banks was able to get underneath her just in time to absorb at least a portion of the fall as both appeared to avoid serious injury.

Soon after, Banks locked on her patented Banks Statement submission move inside the ring to get the win. The victory kicked off her second reign of a title lineage that began when Charlotte captured the inaugural WWE women's championship in April at WrestleMania 32 on the same night that the WWE Divas title was retired.

Before their match on Monday, Charlotte's sidekick Dana Brooke suffered a storyline injury when she was thrown into a backstage road case by Bayley after the two exchanged words. The injury prevented Brooke from appearing ringside and interfering.

After the match, Banks held up the title in the center of the ring while mouthing the words "I told you" to Charlotte as the former champion dejectedly exited the arena.
