Multiple NFL teams have requested Lousiville quarterback Lamar Jackson to work out as a wide receiver in addition to running quarterback drills, according to an NFL Network report. The Baltimore Ravens are not among those teams. "I don't know what the other teams think about him," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said Friday at the NFL combine. "But, on our board, he's a quarterback."  Jackson never caught a pass in three seasons at Louisville, and the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner has never played wide receiver.
He was among the best dual threats in college football, passing for 3,660 yards (15th in the nation) and rushing for 1,601 yards (sixth in the nation). There have been questions about his accuracy because Jackson has never completed more than 60 percent of his throws in any season. Ravens safety Tony Jefferson is among those who don't understand why some teams question whether he can play quarterback at the NFL level. The Ravens probably won't be in line to draft Jackson. Baltimore is contemplating taking a quarterback in the draft, but owner Steve Bisciotti made it clear that the team isn't ready to start thinking about moving on from Joe Flacco. The expectation is for the Ravens to select a quarterback in the middle rounds. Jackson is projected to be taken in the first or second round. The Ravens haven't drafted a quarterback in the first five rounds since selecting Flacco in the first round in 2008. "If we get to a position in the draft and the quarterback is the best player available, we're going to take him," Newsome said.
