The Baltimore Ravens trimmed their roster to the NFL-mandated 53 players. Here's a closer look at the final cuts:
Most significant move: Holding onto three quarterbacks. The Ravens decided to keep Robert Griffin III along with Joe Flacco and Lamar Jackson. Griffin's status was uncertain after Jackson finished strong in the preseason. But Griffin provides a more experienced backup option if Flacco suffers an injury. Griffin definitely earned the spot by how he performed in training camp and the preseason. It marks the first time since 2009 that Baltimore has carried three quarterbacks.
Historic decision: The Ravens made an unprecedented roster move when they waived wide receiver Breshad Perriman. It marked the first time the Ravens parted ways with a first-round pick before his rookie deal expired. Perriman, the No. 26 overall pick in 2015, managed 43 catches for 576 yards and three touchdowns in 27 games. He never eclipsed 65 yards receiving in any game. Injuries, unreliable hands and a lack of aggressiveness turned Perriman into one of the biggest draft busts in team history. In what was his final season in Baltimore, Perriman received the worst grade among 116 receivers from Pro Football Focus. His dropped passes became such a problem that he was sarcastically booed by fans after making two catches in the last home game he played.
Going young: The Ravens are carrying 12 rookies, which represents nearly one-quarter of their roster. This includes three undrafted rookies: receiver-returner Janarion Grant, linebacker Chris Board and cornerback Darious Williams. It extends the Ravens' streak of having at least one undrafted rookie on their season-opening roster to 15 years.
Parting ways with draft picks: The Ravens waived five draft picks Saturday: Perriman, defensive tackle Carl Davis, defensive end Bronson Kaufusi, guard Nico Siragusa and tight end Darren Waller. That put a dent into some recent draft classes. Baltimore has only four of nine players remaining from the 2015 draft class. The only drafted player from that year to start more than 13 games is tight end Maxx Williams. By cutting ties with Kaufusi and trading Kamalei Correa earlier in the week, the only player remaining from the first three rounds in 2016 is offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley.
