Taking a weekly look at Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy's fantasy output in his last game and outlook for Sunday:

Week 12 statistics: 22 rushes, 49 yards; 4 catches, 30 yards.

Week 12 fantasy output (ESPN PPR scoring): 11.9 points (89th overall, 20th among running backs)

Week 12 fantasy output (ESPN standard scoring): 7.9 points (107th overall, 26th among running backs)

What happened at Kansas City Chiefs: McCoy has yet to post back-to-back games in which he has gained at least 100 rushing yards. Sunday's victory over Kansas City continued that trend. He averaged 2.23 yards per carry and did not score any touchdowns a week after 114 yards and a rushing score against the Chargers. It was the fourth time this season McCoy has been held to under 3 yards per carry. He has also averaged 5 yards per carry or better in four games this season.

"I could be more consistent," he said Wednesday. "[It has been] up and down, I think. Some games [I was] lights-out, and other games, it’s kind of, ‘Ahh.' Some plays, I’m doing really, really well [and] some plays I’m not.

"You’ll have two great weeks and feel good about yourself and then next week have a bad week and feel terrible; like a death in the family, you know what I’m saying? Not that bad. It’s the feeling of it."

Fantasy owners can relate. In his past four games, McCoy's PPR scoring has ranged from 2.5 points to 25.6 points, leaving a high degree of unpredictability with starting him each week.

The blocking in front of McCoy continues to be all over the map. He averaged 7.62 yards before contact per rush in Week 11 against the Chargers, the second-highest average of his career. That dropped to 1.77 yards before contact per rush against the Chiefs, his fourth-worst game of the season.

Usage and workload were not the problem with McCoy's lack of production Sunday. He played 70 percent of offensive snaps and the Bills held a lead for most of the contest, giving him an opportunity to get second-half carries to run out the clock. Yet on nine carries in the second half, he gained only 13 yards and two first downs. Overall, his 26 touches in the game were the sixth-most since he joined the Bills in 2015, but his 79 total yards from scrimmage ranked 23rd.

What to expect Sunday vs. New England Patriots: McCoy has surpassed 100 yards from scrimmage in all three of his games against New England since joining Buffalo, although he has scored a total of two touchdowns in those games.

This season, the Patriots have allowed the highest opponent average yards per rush (4.87) in the league, although their performance has improved since a Week 9 bye. New England surrendered 5.06 yards per carry before its bye week and has given up 4.32 after it.

"I think up front they’re playing a lot better against the run and actually playing a lot of man coverage and playing really, really well," McCoy said. "A little bit on tape, you’ll see some guys out of gaps or some guys not in the right coverage. That’s kind of changed up; looks like they’re all more comfortable, I think, with the scheme. Added some new players, but they look good."

For the third week in a row, with Mike Tolbert still held out of practice with a hamstring injury, the main threat to McCoy's touches is Travaris Cadet. He took 35 percent of snaps in Week 11 against the Chargers and 30 percent last Sunday. Cadet had nine touches in each of those games, although his usage has not yet considerably cut into McCoy's.
