ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- In his "Grade A" mock draft, ESPN’s Todd McShay has the Denver Broncos looking at their basic draft food groups with the four picks the team currently has in the opening three rounds.

With two quarterback on the roster -- Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian -- and the trade talks with the San Francisco 49ers on Colin Kaepernick in a holding pattern with both sides dug in at their financial positions, McShay has the Broncos using their first pick of the draft (31st overall) to select Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook.

In McShay's previous mock drafts in recent weeks, he had the Broncos selecting Mississippi defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche, Indiana tackle Jason Spriggs (twice) and UCLA defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

McShay moves on to give the Broncos Notre Dame defensive tackle Sheldon Day with the second-round pick to go with Indiana running back Jordan Howard and Missouri guard Connor McGovern in the third round with the 94th and 98th picks overall, respectively.

At 5-foot-11 7/8-inches tall and 230 pounds, Howard is one of the biggest backs on the draft board. He rushed for 1,213 yards in his only season at Indiana after transferring when Alabama-Birmingham discontinued its football program.

McGovern started games at right guard, right tackle and left tackle for Missouri. He set a pile of weight-room records in his career for the Tigers but also suffered a torn chest muscle in one offseason attempt to bench press 515 pounds.
