Like so many other teams around the NFL, the Detroit Lions have begun to offer assistance to those affected by Hurricane Harvey earlier this week.
The franchise itself donated $1 million to the Red Cross earlier Thursday -- a similar donation to what has been made by other clubs around the league.
Lions punter Sam Martin is sharpening his focus for his donations. He sent out a tweet Thursday that he will donate six pounds of dog food to the relief project -- and yes, dog food is something that is necessary for families with pets -- for every retweet he gets on the post, up to $10,000.

In the first half hour, he had over 3,300 retweets.
Martin and other Lions players have also been promoting a supplies and clothing drive this weekend to fill up two semi-trucks to send to Houston to help with the relief effort.

Multiple Lions players have been dealing with the aftermath of the hurricane while being in Detroit.
Glover Quin and Eric Ebron live in the city. Travis Swanson grew up there and Cornelius Lucas had family members and friends relocate there from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina only to go through this again.
