Saints cornerbacks Marshon Lattimore, Ken Crawley miss practice

METAIRIE, La. -- Marshon Lattimore's status for Sunday's game is in doubt after the New Orleans Saints' breakout rookie cornerback missed practice on Wednesday with his ankle injury.

And to make matters a little more dire, the Saints' other starting cornerback, Ken Crawley, was held out of full-team drills with an abdomen injury. Crawley was present for the early portion of practice open to the media, but Lattimore was absent.

It's still too early in the week to predict their status for Sunday's game at the Los Angeles Rams. The best indicator will probably be whether they are able to return to the practice field by Friday.

Lattimore tried to go back into last Sunday's 34-31 victory over the Washington Redskins in the second half after he was injured in the first quarter. But he quickly returned to the sideline and called it a day.

His status is obviously huge since he has been playing like one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL this season -- and since the Saints gave up more than 300 yards and three touchdowns in his absence last week.

On a more positive note, Saints linebacker A.J. Klein (ankle) and safety Kenny Vaccaro (groin) appear poised to return to the lineup after they both missed last week's game. They both practiced on a limited basis Wednesday. Vaccaro said he definitely plans to play and labeled himself "105 percent" after saying he was 90 percent last week. Klein was optimistic but stopped short of saying he will definitely play.
