New Titans planning an 'attack of the clones' in team-first outlook

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans’ free-agent haul comes in all shapes and sizes, from 5-foot-9, 185-pound return man Eric Weems to 6-2, 313-pound nose tackle Sylvester Williams.

In terms of football identities, though, they all seems to fit right in to the team-first, tough, dependable thinking the Titans now seek.

Listening to cornerback Logan Ryan, safety Johnathan Cyprien, Williams, special-teamers Brynden Trawick and Daren Bates and return man Weems, they all sounded a lot a like.

Ryan, the top player of the new bunch, spelled a lot of it out.

“I am not here to make promises or guarantees," he said. “I am just here to work hard, fit in with the team, be dependable and put the team first. I’ve heard there’s a lot of great guys in this locker room.

“I am a guy who is going to come to work every day. I am very blue-collar in that nature. I will do whatever it takes to put the team first."

They all hit on the idea of doing whatever is asked. And given the context of what the Titans are trying to build, when everyone is saying it, it seems less cliché and more believable.

Unity in mindset and approach goes a long way in team-building, and in less than two full offseasons, by both addition and subtraction, general manager Jon Robinson has moved the Titans miles in this department.

In a conversation about the similar personalities, former Titans tight end Frank Wycheck joked on "The Wake Up Zone" in Nashville that the Titans could go with an “Attack of the Clones” theme for the season.
