The Washington Redskins ended their offseason program on June 13. Here's a look at how they fared:

Offseason goals: It started with a big one: finding a quarterback so they could move on from free agent Kirk Cousins. They traded for Alex Smith. But the Redskins also made it clear they needed to improve in both running the ball and defending the run. The Redskins ranked 29th in yards per carry allowed last season and were last at stopping the run. They drafted linemen Daron Payne (first round) and Tim Settle (fifth). On offense, they ranked 30th in yards per carry and 28th in total rushing yards. They drafted running back Derrius Guice (second round).

Grade: Above average

Move I liked: Acquiring Smith. The Redskins knew Cousins wasn't going to sign long term so they, finally, moved on. They landed a proven veteran at the game's most important position. Smith is used to adapting to a new system so that shouldn't be an issue. He's considered a strong leader. The Redskins are confident he can be as productive as Cousins was in this offense; Smith's history says he'll turn the ball over a lot less (but throw fewer touchdown passes).

Move I didn't like: Giving up corner Kendall Fuller in the Smith trade. It's understandable: There were up to eight teams trying to acquire Smith so just giving Kansas City the third-round pick would not have gotten it done. Fuller, entering his third year, was coming off an excellent season defending in the slot. He's a mature professional. But to get something, the Redskins had to give something. The trade needed to be made, but it's too bad it cost them Fuller.

Biggest question still to be answered in training camp: Who's healthy? The Redskins have question marks surrounding multiple players who had offseason surgery, including left tackle Trent Williams, tight end Jordan Reed, right tackle Morgan Moses and defensive end Stacy McGee. The tackles are expected to return for camp and they're hoping Reed will return in camp. They're uncertain about McGee. They're optimistic running back Chris Thompson will be ready for camp, too. The Redskins were one of the most injured teams in 2017. Every one of these players is crucial. If the Redskins are relatively healthy, they could surprise.

He's a lot faster than I thought. He plays faster -- explosive. ... And then our free-agent acquisitions. Paul Richardson is faster than I even thought on tape. Excellent free-agent signing.
