Nathaniel Clyne set for Liverpool after Southampton agree deal - sources

Nathaniel Clyne is closing in on a move to Liverpool after a structured deal for the England full-back was agreed, sources have told ESPN FC.

Southampton have been determined in their stance that they wanted a £15 million fee for Clyne, with Liverpool reluctant to agree to those demands.

However, a deal is now in place that sufficiently satisfies both parties, with the fee Southampton have been demanding set to be reached if Clyne achieves specified milestones at Anfield.

Southampton accepted last month that Clyne would not be signing a new contract and, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2016, a move has loomed.

Liverpool have been the front runners for his signature for the last few weeks as they look to replace the departed Glen Johnson, with Manchester United's interest in the player earlier in 2015 fading as they moved on to alternative targets.

Clyne is currently on holiday and he is expected to complete his move to Liverpool when he returns next week.

Southampton signed right-back Cedric Soares from Sporting Lisbon as they prepared for Clyne's departure and Saints boss Ronald Koeman has being promised all the funds from the sale of his full-back to be reinvested in his squad.
