First time for everything: Packers LB Julius Peppers unable to practice

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Here’s a first: Julius Peppers missed a practice.

Before Monday, the 35-year-old had suited up and participated in every practice during his two seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

Peppers was not in pads during the portion that was open to the media but was in attendance. The official injury report, with the reason for his lack of participation, will be released following practice. When it is released, it will be the first time Peppers has been on it since he signed with the Packers in 2014.

It’s been a remarkable run of durability for the 14th-year pro, who has never had a surgery in his pro career and has not missed a game since the 2007 season. He missed the final two games that year because of a knee injury. They’re the only two games he’s missed because of his injury in his pro career (he missed four games as a rookie in 2002 while serving a suspension).

At this point, Peppers’ status for Thursday’s game at the Detroit Lions is uncertain. He was one of five players who were not suited up for practice on Monday. The others were: tackle Bryan Bulaga (ankle), guard T.J. Lang (shoulder), receiver Ty Montgomery (ankle) and cornerback Demetri Goodson (reason unknown).

Cornerback Damarious Randall (knee) and center Corey Linsley (ankle) both participated. So did tight end Andrew Quarless, who practiced for the first time since his Week 3 knee injury. He remains on the temporary injured reserve list.
