Jacques Patrick commits to FSU

Four-star Class of 2015 running back Jacques Patrick, the 42nd-ranked prospect in the ESPN 300, committed to Florida State Seminoles Monday in a ceremony at Timber Creek High in Orlando, Florida.

Patrick becomes the eighth ESPN 300 commitment for the Seminoles, who currently have the sixth-ranked 2015 recruiting class after inking the No. 3-ranked class in 2014.

Patrick is the second ESPN 300 running back to commit to Florida State, joining No. 84 Johnny Frasier, who is a soft pledge to the Seminoles after already taking an official visit to Tennessee. This will be the second straight year Jimbo Fisher has signed a top-three nationally ranked running back. Seminoles starting running back Dalvin Cook was ranked the No. 2 running back in the Class of 2014.

Patrick, who will play in the 2015 Under Armour All-America Game, ultimately selected Florida State over Alabama after making official visits to Ohio State and Texas A&M in September.

The 6-foot-3, 233-pound Patrick is currently rising up the all-time rushing charts in Florida high school football. He currently sits in seventh place on the all-time list with 7,323 yards, behind notable names like Emmitt Smith, Alabama's Derrick Henry and Florida's Kelvin Taylor.

Patrick is the fifth top-15 prospect from the state of Florida to commit to defending national champion Florida State, including the nations No. 1-ranked athlete George Campbell and No.1-ranked safety, Derwin James Jr.

The Seminoles have 19 commitments and remain in the running for No. 1 Terry Beckner Jr., No. 2 Byron Cowart, No. 5 Josh Sweat, No. 8 Kendall Sheffield, No. 9 CeCe Jefferson, No. 49 Tarvarus McFadden, No. 58 Da'Vante Phillips and others. McFadden is scheduled to announce his decision Friday with Florida State considered the favorite over Georgia.
