Sam Mennenga has scored a career-high 29 points as New Zealand overcame a 10-point deficit to post a shock 85-75 NBL win over Tasmania in Auckland.
The JackJumpers scored a franchise-low eight points in the opening quarter of Thursday night's match at Spark Arena, but quickly rebounded to lead 50-40 early in the third term.
Mennenga scored eight points in the first half before exploding with 10 in the third term and 11 in the last to power New Zealand to victory.
The 23-year-old finished with 13-of-15 from the field, including 3-of-4 from the perimeter, along with nine rebounds.
The Breakers' Next Star Karim Lopez, who is still just 17 years old, was also crucial with 17 points, while Tacko Fall tallied 11 points and seven rebounds in just under 14 minutes of action.
NZ guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright, who copped a five-match suspension for shoving a referee the last time he faced the Breakers, finished with eight points and five assists in his first match back.
"Winning feels good. I'm glad I could help," Mennenga told ESPN.
"It was so fun. It felt like everyone was clicking, everyone was enjoying it, we were all having fun.
"They (Tasmania) made big shots and we stayed together. We never broke apart. Now we're going to go celebrate and hopefully go on a winning streak."
Jordon Crawford (26 points) top-scored for Tasmania, who still hold sixth spot despite slipping to a 12-12 record.
The defending champions were without injured trio Will Magnay, Sean Macdonald and Majok Deng, and their absence was severely felt.
The Breakers (9-15) entered the game having lost 13 of their past 15 matches, and they played with freedom even during the periods when things were going against them.
Jackson-Cartwright snared a steal in the opening minute to score an easy bucket, but he was stripped of the ball twice in quick succession after that in a sure sign of his rustiness.
Remarkably, the JackJumpers committed as many turnovers as they scored points in the opening quarter - eight.
It marked the lowest-scoring quarter in the franchise's history.
Fall slammed down two dunks in his four minutes of action to help give NZ a 19-8 lead at quarter-time.
The margin stretched to 13 points early in the second quarter, but it was the Crawford show from that point on as the JackJumpers stormed back into the contest.
Crawford didn't even put up a shot in the first quarter, but he nailed 17 points in the second term alone on 6-of-7 shooting as Tasmania snatched a 45-39 lead by the long break.
In a topsy-turvy third term, Tasmania's lead extended to 10, the Breakers fought back to lead by four, before the JackJumpers went into the final break with a 62-61 edge.
Mennenga's hand stayed hot in the final term, the NZ big man nailing a series of important shots, lay-ups and dunks to put Tasmania to bed.
