NAPA to sponsor Chase Elliott in Sprint Cup next year

Chase Elliott will bring NAPA Auto Parts with him when he goes full-time Sprint Cup racing next year as the company will sponsor him in 24 races in each of his first three seasons.

Hendrick Motorsports, which announced in January that Elliott would replace Jeff Gordon in the No. 24 car starting next season, revealed the three-year sponsorship deal Tuesday night at a NAPA convention in Las Vegas.

The defending Xfinity Series champion, the 19-year-old Elliott is third in the standings nine races into the 2015 season. Elliott has competed in two Sprint Cup events this year, and has four more -- including the Sprint Showdown last-chance All-Star qualifying race next week -- on his 2015 schedule.

"We have an incredible opportunity with NAPA, both on and off the track," team owner Rick Hendrick said in a news release. "Our organizations work extremely well together and share many of the same values.

"The program already has a ton of positive momentum, and we want to carry that into 2016 with great performance in all areas of the business."

NAPA Auto Parts has been aligned with Elliott, son of NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott, since the start of the 2014 season. The longtime partner of Michael Waltrip dropped sponsorship of Waltrip's team and driver Martin Truex Jr. after NASCAR penalties for race manipulation by other MWR drivers knocked Truex out of the 2013 Chase for the Sprint Cup.

The company then partnered with Hendrick, a significant player in the automotive industry whose 95 dealerships sold 184,000 vehicles and serviced 1.78 million in 2014, according to the company website.
