Darren Till: I am ready to take Stephen Thompson's 'head off' at UFC Liverpool

Darren Till believes that he will have wisdom on his side as he bids to take Stephen Thompson's "head off" at UFC Liverpool on Sunday.

Till, who is nearly 10 years the junior of Thompson, knows that experience is not on his side ahead of their clash, but he believes that his work in the gym will be more than enough to overcome 'Wonderboy'.

"I'm not going out there looking for a big knockout. I'm training very intelligently," Till said.

"Stephen's been around for longer and will know a few things but I have some ideas of my own and they involve going in there and taking his head off.

"Every fight I want to get fitter, faster and stronger and I'm killing myself in the gym doing so. There can't be any fails. You can't teach hard work. I give it my all because you simply can't cheat in this game."

Thompson failed in his bid to take the UFC welterweight belt from Tyron Woodley last year, drawing in their first contest before a majority decision loss in their rematch in March last year.

However, Till believes there are clear weaknesses in Thompson's game that he can exploit when they meet in the octagon.

"There's no doubt Stephen is a top quality fighter with a lot of wisdom but I've got plenty as well. I've been fighting since I was a kid," Till added.

"It'll be about who's smartest and quickest on the night and I really believe that. He's looking for power and he's not really practicing much technique."
