Every year, the selection of the All-Australian team brings with it a chorus of controversy.
Experts, fans and even players react with varying degrees of agreement or surprise as the best 22 players from across the league are awarded All-Australian honours.
So, did the selectors get it right this year? ESPN AFL expert Jude Bolton believes they missed the mark, especially in the backline.
Bolton's back six included four players who didn't make the official team - Melbourne back pocket Neville Jetta, Collingwood high-flyer Jeremy Howe, St Kilda rebounder Dylan Roberton and Adelaide tall Jake Lever.
He also didn't find room for Alex Rance - who was named captain of the All Australian team on Wednesday night.
"Jetta has been the best shutdown, small defender in the competition," Bolton said when explaining his selections. "He took on the most dangerous small forwards and always acquitted himself well.
"Howe, as an intercept marker, reads the play so well, and he makes it a really well-balanced backline.
"Roberton gave the Saints so much drive and run, and is also one of the most superb interceptors in the game, while Jake Lever, while still a young man, is absolutely deserving of a spot in the side."
Bolton's backline had the biggest difference when compared to the team selected on Wednesday night, although he also found room for North Melbourne's Ben Brown and Tom Lynch in the forwardline, and Sydney's Josh Kennedy on the bench.
