GWS match-winner Toby Greene is likely to be in hot water after appearing to brush the shoulder of AFL umpire Matt Stevic during a heated discussion in Saturday's elimination final.
The Sherrin finished in the arms of a euphoric Greene at the end of an epic contest, which the Giants won by one point to advance to a semi-final against Geelong.
Greene booted three goals and was awarded a match-sealing free kick for high contact in the final seconds of the drama-laden game, ending the Swans' hopes of victory.
Earlier, Greene was captured by TV cameras while having an animated chat with Stevic at three-quarter time.
The small forward, most likely querying a momentum-shifting decision to reverse a free kick late in the third quarter, made a beeline for the whistleblower then seemingly made physical contact.
It wasn't enough to knock Stevic off course or to the ground but the league takes a dim view of players making any form of contact with an umpire.
"They are hot on it ... it will be looked at," AFLW great Daisy Pearce said in the Seven Network commentary box.
Former Geelong captain Cameron Ling agreed, noting Greene should have changed course.
No modern-day player has been found guilty by the AFL's disciplinary process more than Greene, who has accumulated almost $30,000 in match-review fines.
Greene's leadership as stand-in skipper played a key part in his side's return to finals after a horrible 2020, while the combative forward has largely managed his white-line fever this season.
Greene's recent one-game ban has been his only suspension of 2021, while he escaped with a fine for striking Carlton's Nic Newman earlier in the season.
