TEMPE, Ariz. – Jeff Fisher doesn’t forget.
On Sunday, however, he finally hit back.
Fisher’s postgame locker room speech, which he revealed to NFL.com, after the Los Angeles Rams beat the Arizona Cardinals 17-13 at University of Phoenix Stadium on Sunday, was the result of two years of pent-up frustration and bitterness toward coach Bruce Arians for his 'always 8-8' comments following a win in St. Louis in December, 2014.
“I told them, 'This was [the Cardinals'] Christmas present. We see them after Christmas [when the Rams host the Cardinals on January 1 at the L.A. Coliseum]. This was their Christmas present. We just gave it to them early, OK?’” Fisher told NFL.com.
Fisher is typically reserved when it comes to trash talking opposing coaches or teams, but he couldn’t hold back anymore.
“Go back and see all the s--- Bruce said against us a couple of years ago," Fisher told NFL.com
He was referring to Arians’ comments after the Cardinals beat the then-St. Louis Rams 12-6 in a Thursday night game without Carson Palmer, who was out for the season with an ACL injury.
"I love it when nobody says that you will have a chance to win," Arians said two years ago. “There is an 11-3 team, and a team that is always 8-8. You figure it out."
