TEMPE, Ariz. -- There has been a mad dash for fantasy football owners to add Arizona Cardinals wide receiver J.J. Nelson.

Nelson was the most added player to ESPN fantasy leagues this week, according to ESPN's fantasy football statistics. He was on teams in 10.3 percent of leagues last week and is currently on teams in 36.7 percent of leagues, a difference of 26.4 percent -- the largest growth this week by almost 9 percent.

It was all thanks to his five-catch, 120-yard, one-touchdown performance Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, the third-best game by yardage of his three-year NFL career. Nelson is poised to continue producing for the Cardinals because fellow receiver John Brown's status is still unknown as he's dealing with a quad injury. An injury to running back David Johnson has also opened up more opportunities for Nelson.

Nelson was started in just 6.9 percent of leagues he was in a week ago, with owners who benched him missing out on 18 points in Week 2 and 10 in Week 1. He ranks second among all receivers in standard scoring leagues.

He's been targeted 13 times this season -- six times in Week 1 and seven in Week 2. Without Johnson and Brown in Week 2, Nelson ran 35 routes, compared to 21 in the season opener at Detroit.

Those numbers could increase Monday night if Brown misses another game, although Nelson is projected to turn in 7.1 points. The Cowboys' defense, which Nelson will face Monday night, is projected to score 6.6 points.

Nelson's productivity this season has been a carryover from last season. He's caught six touchdown passes in his last seven games -- tied with Green Bay's Jordy Nelson for the most in the NFL in that span -- and ran for another.
