Three OL starters questionable for Jaguars vs. Chargers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars could be down three starters on the offensive line for Sunday’s home game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Right tackle Jermey Parnell (knee), right guard A.J. Cann (triceps) and left guard Patrick Omameh (knee) have been listed as questionable. Coach Doug Marrone said the team will be aggressively treating those three because he would rather not have to wait until Sunday to determine if they will be able to play.

“Each guy is a little bit different, whether soreness and pain and things of that nature, that they’re just dealing with at this time -- stability, whatever it may be, strengthening,” Marrone said Friday. “I wouldn’t go out on a limb and say it’s game time [decision]. Potentially it could be. This evening I’ll have more information for the decision. Tomorrow morning we’ll have information about the decision. Tomorrow when we get to the hotel we’ll have information about the decisions. And then at night before we go to bed there’s another one.

“There’s a bunch of meetings and things that go on and treatments between now and Sunday and hopefully we don’t have that situation.”

Cann missed last Sunday’s game against Cincinnati with his injury, which he suffered in practice two days before the game. Parnell left the Bengals game late with his knee injury. Omameh was injured against the Bengals but finished the game.

If those three can’t play, the Jaguars will have to juggle the lineup. Center Brandon Linder moved to right guard to start in Cann’s place and Tyler Shatley started against the Bengals. That may be what the Jaguars do again this week and could put reserve Chris Reed at left guard. Josh Wells probably would start in Parnell’s place at right tackle.

The Jaguars could get by juggling the interior but not having Parnell on the outside would be a big loss against Chargers pass-rushers Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. They each have 8.5 sacks and the Chargers at times have lined them up on the same side of the formation.

In addition to Parnell, Cann and Omameh, receiver Marqise Lee (knee) also is questionable. He has been listed as questionable before the last two games but played on Sunday and is expected to be in the lineup against the Chargers.
