Patriots will be without three starters; Martellus Bennett questionable

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots have officially ruled out three starters -- wide receiver Chris Hogan (shoulder), defensive tackle Malcom Brown (ankle) and right tackle Marcus Cannon (ankle) -- which was expected after they missed the full week of practice. In addition, tight end Martellus Bennett (shoulder) was a limited participant in Friday's practice and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday night's road game against the Denver Broncos.

Bennett will be accompanying the team on its trip to Denver, and it isn't out of the realm of possibility that he suits up.

He is one of five players who are questionable, which includes receiver Danny Amendola (knee), cornerback Stephon Gilmore (concussion/ankle), defensive end Cassius Marsh (shoulder) and cornerback Eric Rowe (groin). Gilmore, who has missed the last three games after being listed as having a concussion on Oct. 14, said earlier in the week that he should be good to play. Amendola spoke with reporters on Friday and appears ready for action as well.

In the absence of Hogan, receiver Phillip Dorsett is a top candidate to play more snaps alongside No. 1 receiver Brandin Cooks. Without Brown, the Patriots will likely turn to veteran Alan Branch alongside Lawrence Guy in the middle. And without Cannon, five-year veteran LaAdrian Waddle has been the top backup.
