The real seahawk issues an apology

Hey, seahawks can make a mistake. I’m talking the real Seahawk, the one that swoops in and flies to the delight of the sellout crowd for every Seattle Seahawks home game at CenturyLink Field.

This feathered friend, the Seahawks mascot named Taima (pronounced tay-ma), issued an official apology Tuesday for flying into the stands before Sunday’s game and landing on the head of a spectator.

"I apologize to my family, fellow birds everywhere, the Seahawks organization and fans,” the bird apology reads. “I am embarrassed by the pregame incident and the poor judgment I showed. Please understand my actions were not consistent with the type of bird I hope to become. Go Me's!"

Taima is a 9-year-old augur hawk who leads the team out of the tunnel for every home game. This past Sunday, however, Taima got a bit of a wild hair, or should we say, a wild feather.

Taima took a detour into the stands and found one fan with a head to the bird’s liking. The man ducked before Taima moved to the arm of a nearby woman wearing a Russell Wilson jersey. She calmly smiled while Taima sat perched on her shoulder until one of Taima’s handlers came and got the mischievous bird.
