Middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. has signed a new promotional agreement with Matchroom Boxing, promoter Eddie Hearn announced Wednesday.
Along with the new deal, Hearn announced that Eubank, of England, will return to the ring on June 25 to fight an opponent to be announced at the O2 Arena in London. The fight will be on the undercard of heavyweight world titlist Anthony Joshua's defense against Dominic Breazeale.
Matchroom Boxing will announce the details of Eubank's bout at a news conference Thursday in London, and the fighter and his father -- former middleweight and super middleweight world titleholder Chris Eubank Sr. -- will attend.
"It's great to be back on the Matchroom team and I'm really looking forward to fighting again on [British subscription television network] Sky," Eubank Jr. said. "Anthony and I make a great British double act, when on the same card, and we guarantee excellent entertainment for our fans. I'm confident that there will be many more victories for both of us in the near future."
The 26-year-old Eubank (22-1, 17 KOs), a former interim world titleholder, broke with Hearn for his last fight when rival promoter Mick Hennessy secured the rights for his mandatory challenge against British middleweight champion Nick Blackwell on March 26. Eubank won the fight by 10th-round knockout in which Blackwell suffered a head injury and was hospitalized.
Blackwell was placed in a medically induced coma with cranial bleeding but was released recently and expected to make a full recovery.
Eubank has won four fights in a row since a bitterly contested split decision loss to rival Billy Joe Saunders, who went on to win a world title, in November 2014. In his first fight after the defeat, Eubank stopped Dmitry Chudinov to claim an interim belt before eventually vacating it.
Hearn, who has promoted previous Eubank fights, said he was happy to have him back in the fold.
"I'm delighted to agree a new promotional contract with Chris Eubank Jr.," Hearn said. "He is fast becoming one of the biggest star attractions in the sport and I feel we have the perfect platform in Sky Sports to continue that and deliver him the huge fights. It's a fantastic addition to the June 25 card and just like the last time Junior was there, I'm sure he will light up the O2."
