Riyad Mahrez won't leave Leicester City this summer - Claudio Ranieri

Leicester City fully expect to retain Riyad Mahrez and the rest of their remaining players from last year's title-winning side, manager Claudio Ranieri says.

Although Chelsea exercised N'Golo Kante's release clause last month, Ranieri said that the Premier League champions will remain intact -- despite Arsenal's reported efforts to sign Mahrez.

"I am used to speaking about these things. But it is important that my players believe in the new moment," Ranieri said at a news conference ahead of Sunday's Community Shield against Manchester United.

"It is normal others want Riyad and other players, but we must focus on the job.

"I speak with him a lot and I hope this will help him.

"The chairman told me at the beginning, when we spoke, that we want to keep everybody. Kante had a clause and wanted to go, but the others stay with us."

Mahrez won the PFA Player of the Year award after scoring 17 league goals, but Ranieri dismissed questions about securing the Algerian to a longer contract when he's already tied to the club until 2019.

"He has a contract for another three years," Ranieri said. "Why does he have to sign? He has money and everything."
