The Denver Broncos re-signed tight end Adam Trautman to a two-year contract Wednesday, the team announced.
Trautman, who was acquired in a trade with the New Orleans Saints during the 2023 draft, provided a quality sounding board in the locker room as the Broncos adjusted to coach Sean Payton's playbook.
Trautman, 27, had publicly said after the trade that he was frustrated by his role in the Saints' offense during the 2022 season -- the season after Payton stepped away from coaching in New Orleans.
However, while he got the playing time with the Broncos in 2023 that he was seeking, his production didn't materialize as the team struggled to integrate its tight ends into the offense after Greg Dulcich's repeated hamstring injuries. Trautman finished with 22 receptions, 204 yards receiving and career-high 3 touchdowns.
His 755 snaps played for the Broncos this past season were also the most he had played in any season, and only wide receiver Courtland Sutton played more among the Broncos' pass-catchers.
Trautman, a 2020 third-round pick by the Saints, has 82 receptions for 845 yards and 7 touchdowns in 60 career games.
