Wests Tigers centre Joey Leilua will spend the next four weeks on the sidelines after entering an early guilty plea for his high shot on Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards at Bankwest Stadium on Saturday night.
A fired up Leilua stepped through a ruck to hit Edwards with a coat-hanger swinging arm to the head during Penrith's 19-12 win over the Tigers on Saturday. Edwards didn't have the ball and wasn't involved in the play. Leilua was sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes following the incident.
The hit came during a particularly passionate passage of play, after Joey's brother Luciano was taken from the field with concussion.
Panthers hooker Api Koroisau made what was deemed to be accidental contact with Luciano's head in a tackle and Joey didn't appreciate his attempt to apologise. He shoved Koroisau, sparking a push and shove around the medicab on which Luciano lay prone.
Meanwhile, Manly forward Addin Fonua-Blake has been hit with a grade-three contrary conduct charge after he used an ugly slur against referee Grant Atkins following the dramatic ending to the Sea Eagles' loss to the Knights on Sunday.
Fonua-Blake later apologised for the outburst that came after the Sea Eagles were denied a potentially match-equalling penalty on fulltime following a break from Tevita Funa.
The Manly forward is facing three weeks on the sidelines, but that ban will be reduced to two games should he opt not to challenge the charge and instead enters an early guilty plea.
