Girquas ring the changes

Griquas coach Swys de Bruin has rung the changes ahead of the team's Bankfin Currie Cup fixture against the Border Bulldogs in East London on Friday.

Injury, illness, form loss and prop De Waal Venter's one week suspension for ill-discipline at squad practice sees three changes in the backline, including a new halfback pairing, and four in the pack.

Five players, among them former Blue Bulls lock Jaco Barnard - will make their Griqua Currie Cup debuts at Absa Stadium. The new and very young halfback pairing is Matt Botha at scrumhalf and SA under-21 player Corrie Avenant at flyhalf.

Centre/fullback Dennis du Plessis will play his first game on the right wing, Daan Liversage has been moved from flank to No 8, flankers Bertus Heunis and Thando Manana return from injury Riaan Olckers replaces Venter.

Newcomers on the reserve bench are hooker Anda Gcilitshana, prop Ian (Bok) Wessels - burly younger brother of Boeta - and thrustful centre George Binikos, who last played Currie Cup rugby in October.
