AFL Round 15 stocks up, stocks down: The hot-headed Pie who needs to take a chill pill

Our footy experts cast their eye over the week's action to find out whose stocks are up -- whether it's a coaching masterstroke or a player having a blinder -- and whose are down. Every club features, so jump ahead to your team below (desktop only).

Crows | Lions | Blues | Magpies | Bombers | Dockers | Cats | Suns | Giants | Hawks | Demons | Roos | Power | Tigers | Saints | Swans | Eagles | Bulldogs

Adelaide

Stocks up: All-Australian candidate Paul Seedsman doesn't know how to kick a goal without it looking flamboyant. The 29-year-old kicked two absolute belters from 24 disposals to go along with his eight inside 50s and 645 metres gained. It's a fine season he is putting together at the Crows.

Stocks down: Just over one minute to go, two goals down and streaming into an open goal with opponents hardly in sight? Lachlan Sholl, you absolutely just have to nail that shot! Special mention to Darcy Fogarty; just three touches and an ugly late hit from behing on Jacob Weitering - if he's not suspended he may be dropped.

Brisbane

Stocks up: He doesn't often get the plaudits in a defence which features Harris Andrews, Brandon Starcevich, and Daniel Rich, but Marcus Adams' work on Tom Hawkins in particular on Thursday night was excellent. The 27-year-old kept Hawkins to just 1.1 on the night.

Stocks down: In terms of his output, Joe Daniher had a night out against the Cats. But in terms of his staging? He should be on the plane to Tokyo to join the diving team. Cut the crap, Joe.

Carlton

Stocks up: Sam Walsh's performances this season are emulating that of a 250-game veteran. Yet he's not yet 21 and racked up 38 disposals, nine inside 50s and nine score involvements to help the Blues to a potentially season-saving win! Star.

Stocks down: It was very much an 'almost' game from Lachie Fogarty, who drifted in and out of the contest for his 14 disposals and 0.2. He had two big chances in the fourth to put the game to bed but missed both from gettable shots - he'll learn from that experience.

Collingwood

Stocks up: Taylor Adams has turned into an incredibly dependable midfielder for the Magpies. He racked up 32 touches (most of anyone on the ground), seven clearances (third), six tackles (equal first) and 491 metres gained (third) against the Dockers.

Stocks down: He's a heart and soul player, but Brayden Maynard might just have cost his side a win. With the scores level, Maynard gave away a (dubious!) free kick on the 50 metre line and then refused to give the ball back to young Docker Liam Henry. He then abused the umpire and gave a 50 metre penalty away, resulting in a certain goal. It was a turning point, and the Pies completely lost their way after that. Inexcusable.

Essendon

Stocks up: Prolific ball-winner Zach Merrett racked up an equal career-high 41 disposals and had eight score involvements in the Bombers' 11-point loss to the ladder-leading Dees. Hats off to Darcy Parish, too, who continued his eyebrow-raising season with another 37 touches.

Stocks down: Essendon's ball use going forward was a bit of a let down, playing right into the hands of both Steven May and Jake Lever. They had 50 inside 50s but an efficiency rating of just 38% - a full 10% down on their season average.

Fremantle

Stocks up: Like a great Telehealth stock, David Mundy's value continues to rise, as the Dockers veteran put himself back in Brownlow Medal calculations. Mundy tallied another 28 touches, four clearances and four inside 50s, controlling the midfield for Fremantle as they overcame Collingwood at Marvel Stadium.

Stocks down: No scores and just 12 touches from Michael Walters is a down day given the lofty expectations we have.

Geelong

Stocks up: Is Cam Guthrie backing up a career-best season with another career-best season? The Carji Greeves Medal winner and 2020 All-Australian is heading there yet again and helped himself to 34 disposals and five clearances on a tough night for the Cats.

Stocks down: Luke Dahlhaus recorded single digit possessions for the fifth time this season and did not kick the ball against the Lions. It's been some fall from grace from the premiership Bulldog, whose 2021 season seems plagued with inconsistency.

Gold Coast

Stocks up: It looks like Josh Corbett is going to be a very handy option up forward for the Suns. The 25-year-old kicked three goals and took seven marks (three contested - an equal game-high). If he can put it together for longer periods of time on a more consistent basis, he'll be a more than handy key position prospect.

Stocks down: While one key forward's stocks go up, another's go down; Ben King had a day out to forget in windy Hobart, being held scoreless from just five disposals.

GWS

Stocks up: Is there a more damaging player in the competition by foot than Lachie Whitfield? He was one of GWS' only contributors in their loss to Hawthorn; 32 touches (20 kicks and 552 metres gained) as well as six tackles. Just a sublime two-way player.

Stocks down: The Giants crumbled under the pressure on Sunday, just as they were becoming a finals fancy. They had too many passengers; six players had 10 or fewer touches.

Hawthorn

Stocks up: Is that the breakout game we've been waiting for from Dylan Moore? He kicked a career-high four goals in his 24th match, including three in the last term with the game still in the balance.

Stocks down: The injury gods haven't been kind to the Hawks; Chad Wingard succumbed to a hammy, and debutant Denver Grainger-Barras suffered concussion on debut.

Melbourne

Stocks up: With the opposition showing all the run and closing the margin, you need your skipper to step up, and Max Gawn's last 10 minutes were exactly what the Dees needed. He plonked himself in the defensive 50 and repelled a number of desperate Bomber attacks as the Dons came within two goals. Stellar stuff from the ruckman, who got down and dirty for seven final term disposals (six contested) and two final term marks.

Stocks down: Christian Petracca is a gun player (we all know that) but he's really got to tidy up his disposal. The Dees star went at just 42 percent efficiency against the Dons and it could have been costly in a tight contest.

North Melbourne

Stocks up: Two goals and 24 touches is a massive stat line for Cam Zurhaar, of whom we've been critical in this column earlier this year. He was great - and even popped up in defence on more than one occasion to lend a hand. His nine score involvements was an equal game-high.

Stocks down: Big man Tristan Xerri can be frustrating to watch sometimes. Has moments but they're few and far between, and while his physicality is good, he sometimes lacks the skill and composure needed to make sustained impacts. Needs to show more, but there's a bit to work with.

Port Adelaide

Stocks up: Big Scott Lycett, take a bow. Ruckmen should not be able to, in tricky and wet conditions, slot game-winners off a step from the pocket. Let's let the video speak for itself.

Stocks down: Skipper Tom Jonas had a couple of moments to forget in the Power's win, most notably being run down by a rampaging Lance Franklin just 15 metres out from goal with the Swannies on the march. It could have ended very badly!

Richmond

Stocks up: It's tricky to find something positive out of Richmond's rare horror performance, but the result could have been even worse had it not been for Dylan Grimes. The star defender had a game-high 13 intercept possessions and thwarted a number of promising St Kilda attacks.

Stocks down: Just the one hit out and one free against for debutant Samson Ryan means he becomes the first non medical sub to fail to touch the footy in his first game since Nick Larkey in 2017. He wasn't ready, Dimma. Send him back to the seconds!

St Kilda

Stocks up: The midfield trio of Jack Steele, Luke Dunstan and Brad Crouch were the catalyst in pulling off one of the most remarkable wins we've seen in recent years. The three Saints combined for 82 disposals, 25 clearances and 15 inside 50s. What a performance. Oh, and a special mention to Paddy Ryder for providing silver service.

Stocks down: When you have a win like that, every single stock rises - especially when many have been at rock bottom in recent weeks!

Sydney

Stocks up: How good is it when Buddy Franklin is on song? His last term was outstading; he kicked four including three in the final quarter. His first kept the Swans within two kicks, then the second made it a one-goal game and his third put the Swans in front. Unfortunately for Sydney, the four points went to Port, but Buddy's scintillating last quarter was excellent viewing nonetheless.

Stocks down: Not sure Joel Amartey keeps his place in the side with four touches and three of those being turnovers...

West Coast

Stocks up: The Western Australia government was friendless when it announced that no fans could attend Sunday afternoon's blockbuster in Perth, but it looks as if they did every Eagles fan a huge favour. Horrible effort from a side who has genuine flag aspirations.

Stocks down: Questions have to be asked of Adam Simpson and the Eagles coaching staff after Tim Kelly and Luke Shuey both returned to the side underdone. Both were limited in minutes and looked completely out of gas in the fourth quarter, as the Bulldogs ran up a cricket score at Optus Stadium.

Western Bulldogs

Stocks up: We could just dedicate this inch of the column to Marcus Bontempelli each week, but that wouldn't be fun, would it? How about Ed Richards' return to the Bulldogs' side? He looked assured in the back half, racking up 16 touches and five marks (one contested) in his first outing for 2021.

Stocks down: The result should have been put to bed by quarter time, really, but the Dogs' inaccuracy and inability to really capitalise on their dominance. At one stage in the second term, the Dogs were 3.12, and only up by 14 points. Their final score of 13.20 -- and margin of 55 points -- was somehow .... underwhelming!
