Three days after being waived, IK Enemkpali is returning to the Buffalo Bills as a member of their practice squad.
Enemkpali, who drew national attention last month for punching New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith and breaking his jaw, had other options but chose to return to the Bills, the NFL Network reported.
Smith returned to Jets practice Monday and said afterward that he does not plan to press charges against Enemkpali.
The NFL said last month that it was reviewing the incident with Enemkpali for possible discipline. Coach Rex Ryan said Friday that he has not been in contact with the NFL about a possible suspension to Enemkpali.
The Bills also signed former Division III quarterback Alex Tanney, whose elaborate trick-shot videos went viral in 2011, to their practice squad Monday.
Tanney, 27, was waived by the Tennessee Titans last week. He went 18-of-25 passing this preseason for 221 yards, two touchdowns and a 125.6 quarterback rating.
The Monmouth College (Illinois) product, who hasn't appeared in a regular-season NFL game, tried out for the Bills during their rookie minicamp in 2012, when current Bills quarterbacks coach David Lee held the same position in Buffalo.
The Bills opted not to re-sign quarterback Matt Simms to their practice squad. Simms instead was signed to the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad, The Buffalo News reported.

Enemkpali: He will be the most notable member of the Bills' practice squad and adds depth in practice at a position where the Bills are thin on numbers on their 53-man roster.
Tanney: Will likely serve as the Bills' scout-team quarterback and is an emergency option behind Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel.
CB Jaylen Watkins: The 2014 fourth-round pick could line up against his half-brother, Bills receiver Sammy Watkins, in practice after he was waived by the Philadelphia Eagles last week.
OL Chris Martin: He's new to the Bills after stints with the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins; he adds versatility as a tackle and guard.
DE Cedric Reed: Undrafted rookie from Texas moved up the depth chart later in training camp and is a developmental edge player.
S Jonathan Meeks: The 2013 fifth-round pick came close to making the Bills' 53-man roster and had offers from five teams to join practice squads but returns to the Bills for a third season.
LB Kevin Reddick: Rex Ryan praised Reddick's play in the preseason finale two days after being claimed off waivers; he could be an emergency call-up if there's another injury to a linebacker.
WR Dez Lewis: The 2015 seventh-round pick didn't do much, as Ryan put it, for most of training camp but flashed in the finale (six catches, 81 yards).
G Cyril Richardson: The 2014 fifth-round pick started four games last season but struggled; he'll need further development before the Bills give him another chance.
RB Cierre Wood: The Bills signed the journeyman runner when injuries hit in training camp; he'll take carries as a scout-team running back in practice.
