Potential candidates to replace Panthers GM Dave Gettleman

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A look at potential candidates to replace Dave Gettleman, who was fired as general manager of the Carolina Panthers on Monday:

Ryan Cowden: The director of player personnel with the Titans, Cowden spent 16 seasons working with the Panthers before going to Tennessee in 2016.

Don Gregory: He recently was promoted to senior executive scout to work on the college and pro side. He was the Panthers' longtime director of scouting.

Mark Koncz: He was promoted by Gettleman to personnel director this year after assistant general manager Brandon Beane became the general manager at Buffalo. Koncz previously was the longtime pro scouting director.

Trent Kirchner: The Seahawks executive spent eight years with the Panthers as a scout before joining Seattle in 2010. He was a candidate for the general manager job at San Francisco and Indianapolis.

John Dorsey: He was fired in June as the general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a longtime executive with the Green Bay Packers prior to that.

Marty Hurney: He was with the Panthers from 1998-2012, most of time that as the general manager. He was fired as GM in October 2012 after a 1-5 start. But he remains in Charlotte and is interested in getting back in the NFL. If team owner Jerry Richardson wants to go with somebody who knows the team, at least on an interim basis, why not the man who drafted Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly?
