Tyson Fury has responded to Anthony Joshua's "get fit, you fat f---" tweet by saying he could "punch his face in now at 25 stone."

After several jibes at each other following Joshua's title defence against Carlos Takam on Oct. 28, Joshua turned up the heat in a somewhat out of character series of tweets on Thursday morning where he called Fury a "fat f---".

Fury, who hasn't fought since beating Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015, went on his own tirade on Instagram.

"This is a message to 'the weightlifter', big Anthony Joshua, the big tough man. Who told me to 'get fit, you fat f---.'" Fury started.

"It's a new one because he usually doesn't swear, he tries to not be himself. So he's being himself now which is good.

"To be honest with you mate, I don't need to get fit for somebody like you, at all. I could come to you now and punch all your face right in for you, even at 25 stone.

"So, I really don't need to get fit for you, put it that way."

Fury then blasted Joshua's performance against Takam, labeling him as "useless" and a "bum".

"I've seen what you're all about. You just fought a midget the other day, the referee had to stop it in case you got caught or beat," Fury said.

"You know, bum city like I always said. Useless, no gas, no stamina, too many weights. You want to practice on a bit more speed and less power, bum!"

Fury is hoping to make a comeback in 2018.

Joshua is desperate to unify the heavyweight division with fights against WBC champion Deontay Wilder and WBO champion Joseph Parker.

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn said earlier Thursday he is sitting down with Wilder's handlers later this week in the hope of signing off on the superfight.
