FRIDAY, MAY 7

Richmond vs. Geelong, MCG, 7:50pm (AEDT)

Team news: Tigers superstar Dustin Martin returns to the side after missing Round 7 under the new concussion protocol, but Trent Cotchin and Dylan Grimes will miss last-year's Grand Final matchup with a hamstring and concussion, respectively. Geelng small forward Gryan Miers has been ruled out of with a hairline fracture of his fibula, but the Cats are set to welcome back Shaun Higgins.

ESPN tip: Tigers by 12 points.

SATURDAY, MAY 8

GWS vs. Essendon, Giants Stadium, 1:45pm (AEDT)

Team news: The Bombers have recalled Aaron Francis, who missed Round 7 against the Blues, from his ankle strain. Andrew Phillips has also been named, replacing Matt Guelfi and Nick Bryan (both omitted). The Giants have made three changes; Daniel Lloyd comes in for his first game of the season, while Tanner Bruhn and Zach Sproule have also been named to replace injured duo Brent Daniels and Sam Reid. Jesse Hogan has been rested.

ESPN tip: Giants by 17 points.

TAB odds: Giants $1.48, Bombers $2.60

Gold Coast vs. St Kilda, Metricon Stadium, 2:10pm (AEST)

Team news: Both teams will field an unchanged lineup after impressive wins last week. Suns young gun Matt Rowell ticked off a milestone in his recovery from a PCL injury, getting out of his brace after six weeks. He is still six weeks away from a return.

ESPN tip: Saints by 8 points.

North Melbourne vs. Collingwood, Marvel Stadium, 4:35pm (AEST)

Team news: North has named Luke Davies-Uniacke and Connor Menadue for Saturday afternoon's contest, replacing omitted pair Atu Bosenavulagi and Will Phillips. Oliver Henry's star performance in the VFL has earned him a recall for the Pies, joining Tyler Brown in the senior line up for Steele Sidebottom's 250th AFL match. Callum Brown and Finlay Macrae have been omitted.

ESPN tip: Kangaroos by 11 points.

Melbourne vs. Sydney, MCG, 7:25pm (AEST)

Team news: The Demons will be without hard-running defender Adam Tomlinson who has suffered a season-ending ACL injury. Oskar Baker and Nathan Jones have been omitted and will be replaced in the side by James Harmes and Harry Petty. Bayley Fritsch will be able to play after having his one-match ban for striking overturned by the Tribunal. Superstar Sydney forward Lance Franklin will take on Melbourne, after missing the last two games due to bone bruising on his knee. Dane Rampe and Robbie Fox round out three big inclusions for the Swans, but they will be without Isaac Heeney who succumbed to an ankle injury.

ESPN tip: Demons by 17 points.

Port Adelaide vs. Adelaide, Adelaide Oval, 7:40pm (AEST)

Team news: The Crows have been boosted by the return of skipper Rory Sloane who has missed a chunk of the season with a retinal injury. Sloane will be joined by Luke Brown, Will Hamill and Darcy Fogarty. Shane McAdam, Andrew McPherson, Nick Murray and Jackson Hately have all been. omitted. Gun midfielder Matt Crouch is still several weeks away from a return, though is close to rejoining the main training group. Tom Lynch has had arthroscopic surgery on his left big toe and is expected to be sidelined for more than two months. For Port, Travis Boak and Kane Farrell are the only inclusions, replacing Sam Mayes, Martin Frederick and Boyd Woodcock.

ESPN tip: Power by 29 points.

SUNDAY, MAY 9

Hawthorn vs. West Coast, MCG, 1:10pm (AEST)

Team news: Defensive trio Shannon Hurn, Jeremy McGovern and Tom Barass will all likely miss again, but good news for the Eagles is that Luke Shuey is getting close to a return from a hamstring injury sustained early last month and Liam Ryan is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a shin injury.

ESPN tip: Eagles by 26 points.

TAB odds: Hawks $2.80, Eagles $1.42

Western Bulldogs vs. Carlton, Marvel Stadium, 3:20pm (AEST)

Team news: Mitch McGovern will miss for the Blues after picking up a hamstring injury in the win over Essendon, while Paddy Dow is in doubt after a facial injury. Meanwhile, Tim English will likely return to bolster the Dogs' ruck stocks, after missing Round 7 through concussion, and 21-year-old Buku Khamis will play his first senior game.

ESPN tip: Bulldogs by 17 points.

TAB odds: Bulldogs $1.34, Blues $3.20

Fremantle vs. Brisbane, Optus Stadium, 4:40pm (AEST)

Team news: Heath Chapman is a chance to play for the Dockers, despite suffering a shoulder dislocation against the Eagles in Round 7. However, Luke Ryan is less likely, after suffering a calf injury late last week. Joel Hamling is also nearing a return from an ankle injury which has seen him miss the past month of football.

ESPN tip: Lions by 12 points.
