          Seattle Seahawks' schedule 2020: Four prime-time games on the ticket

          The Seattle Seahawks' schedule for 2020 was released Thursday.

          The regular season kicks off with the Houston Texans hosting the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, Sept. 10 (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC). The opening doubleheader for Monday Night Football will feature the Pittsburgh Steelers at the New York Giants (7:10 p.m. ET, ESPN) and the Tennessee Titans at the Denver Broncos (10:20 p.m. ET) on Monday, Sept. 14.

          Breakdown

          With a megastar quarterback in Russell Wilson, the Seahawks still have plenty of prime-time appeal, even if their roster is no longer as nationally recognizable as it once was. Hence, four appearances in prime time beginning in Week 2 against the Tom Brady-less Patriots (Sunday night). The others are Week 5 against Minnesota (Sunday night), Week 11 against Arizona (Thursday night) and Week 12 against at Philadelphia (Monday night), the only one of the four prime-time games away from CenturyLink Field. The back-to-back prime-time games 11 days apart give the Seahawks a mini bye a month after their actual bye in Week 6. The Seahawks are an NFL-best 29-7-1 in prime time (including their 2018 game in London) since Pete Carroll arrived in 2010. That includes a 19-3 record at home.

          Early risers

          The Seahawks open at Atlanta in one of their four 10 a.m. PT kickoffs. Those have historically been difficult for West Coast teams traveling east, but they no longer seem as daunting for the Seahawks given their recent success in the early time slot. They went 5-0 in such games last season and 3-0 in 2018. The Seahawks’ other 10 a.m. kickoffs are in Week 4 at Miami, at Buffalo in Week 9 and at Washington in Week 15. The Bills are the only 2019 playoff team of the four.

          Another NFC West title game?

          Last season, it was winner-take-NFC West when the Seahawks hosted the 49ers in Week 17. The division wasn’t decided until San Francisco stopped Jacob Hollister inches shy of the goal line on fourth down in the closing seconds. This year’s schedule could set up for another NFC West title game with the Seahawks playing the 49ers in Santa Clara, California, in the regular-season finale. Then again, Arizona got better this offseason and appears to be on the rise, so this could be more than a two-team race.
