Evals of the best from the Big Three

Here's a deeper look at the top prospects from California, Florida and Texas, the three states widely regarded as the Big Three when it comes to prospects. Our scouts' work is not done and every day they are adding more evaluations to the recruiting database, so keep checking back for more.

California

CB Adoree' Jackson
Gardena, Calif./Junipero Serra
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 5 | Position rank: 2 | Stars: 5 | Grade: 92
One of the more explosive and electric athletes in this class, Jackson comes from a program that has produced its share of playmakers, including USC standout Marqise Lee. Jackson is cut in that same mold. He has modest size but excellent speed and burst. He's a fast-twitch athlete who goes 0-to-60 in a hurry on offense, making him a dangerous threat with the ball in his hands and equally valuable on defense with his ability to recover and limit receiver separation. He also excels as a returner, as he's a nightmare to contain in the open field and difficult to wrap up in tight spaces.

ATH Michiah Quick
Fresno, Calif./Central East
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 22 | Position rank: 3 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 87
This dude is an explosive jet of a weapon and might be one of the best skill position players this class has to offer -- and at more than one position. Has some De'Anthony Thomas traits, but Quick is not as frail. He is a lean, fluid player with nice height. He is a home run waiting to happen.

TE-H Tyler Luatua
La Mirada, Calif./La Mirada
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 37 | Position rank: 1 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 85
Luatua is a versatile prospect who could draw interest from recruiters on both sides of the ball. He could be a promising defensive prospect as a 4-3 defensive end or a 3-4 OLB but will likely find himself on offense at the next level. His athleticism and size allow him to offer good production and versatility as a tight end.

QB-PP Keller Chryst
Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 50 | Position rank: 2 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 84
Chryst is an extremely polished and well-groomed pocket passer with the size, arm strength and poise to become a premier passer at the next level. Chryst reminds us of a stronger-armed Chad Pennington, and he works almost exclusively from under center, which is becoming more and more rare. He is fundamentally sound in terms of his drop, set and release.

ATH John Smith
Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 62 | Position rank: 7 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 84
While Smith is an impressive wide receiver, his greatest upside might be on defense as a safety. He is a physically imposing player, but more in presence than stature. That doesn't mean he doesn't have quality size -- he does -- but he plays bigger than he is.

Florida

OT David Sharpe
Jacksonville, Fla./Providence School
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 12 | Position rank: 2 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 89
This is not only a big kid, but Sharpe is also a pretty promising tackle prospect. In the 6-foot-7 range, he is on the upper tier when it comes to height. He has a nice reach and a lengthy frame that can still support plenty more good mass. With some time in a college weight program, he should be able to play comfortably at 300-plus pounds. Displays solid finishing attitude.

RB Sony Michel
Plantation, Fla./American Heritage
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 16 | Position rank: 2 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 88
Michel's production speaks for itself, and he has the measurables and running skill set to rack up impressive yards at the next level. He makes it look effortless at times and can change up his style as needed to move the chains. Has a great blend of size, speed and strength at the position. Overall, he appears durable despite a sophomore season knee injury. Has already shouldered a lot of carries at the high school level but has the thick, multicarry frame that should be able to handle the load in an every-down role in college.

RB Joseph Yearby
Miami/Miami Central
College: Miami

ESPN 150 rank: 18 | Position rank: 3 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 87
One of the more explosive and elusive backs this class has to offer, Yearby is a big play waiting to happen every time he touches the ball. Has gifted feet and body control. He's built low to the ground, with a compact, muscular build that is tightly wound and extremely fast-twitched, making him difficult to wrap up cleanly. Explosive back who can turn even the smallest crease of daylight into a big gainer.

RB Dalvin Cook
Miami/Miami Central
College: Florida

ESPN 150 rank: 20 | Position rank: 4 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 87
As talented as Cook is, he might not receive as much hype as his backfield counterpart Joseph Yearby, but he should. Cook is a true home run threat at running back, and while he's not as complete of a back as Yearby, he has arguably better top-end speed and overall athleticism. His vision and natural skill set at the position are improving, and while we feel he could develop into a fine DB at the next level, it might be hard for teams not to want to get the ball in his hands on offense. He has exceptional foot quickness and speed.

WR Ermon Lane
Homestead, Fla./Homestead Senior
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 25 | Position rank: 1 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 87
Lane is a playmaker with sleek, fluid movements and the ability to play inside and outside. He displays good height and has a lean build but looks to be able to add size and bulk while keeping his speed. His speed is good, but he's a bit of a short stepper. He shows he can gain separation at the high school level. He has a quick first step to get into a route and flashes some lateral suddenness off the line.

Texas

DE Myles Garrett
Arlington, Texas/James Martin
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 6 | Position rank: 2 | Stars: 5 | Grade: 91
Garrett has a lot of natural ability and tremendous upside. He is a bit of a physical freak. He is a very good athlete for his size and has a lot of tools to help him get around the football and make plays. He has excellent height and a muscular build with room to pack on more good size to his lengthy frame. He displays a good initial burst for his size and is capable of disrupting with penetration.

S Jamal Adams
Lewisville, Texas/Hebron
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 23 | Position rank: 3 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 87
Adams is a productive safety in all three levels of the defense and an explosive defender and overall football player. Has good size, range and well-rounded run and pass support skill sets. He has the good size and toughness you look for at the position and plays with a fast, physical style. Looks taller on film than his listed measurables and has some length to his frame, which help him cover ground.

CB Tony Brown
Beaumont, Texas/Ozen
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 27 | Position rank: 5 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 87
Brown is a scheme-versatile DB who can handle a lot of different responsibilities that usually end up in big plays. He will line up at CB, nickel or safety and produce in both man and zone schemes. He has good size with a long, muscular frame that allows him to play bigger and also recover and cover more ground. Smart and instinctive with a ball-hawk mentality. Makes momentum changing interceptions and fumble recoveries.

OLB Hoza Scott
La Porte, Texas/La Porte
College: Texas A&M

ESPN 150 rank: 28 | Position rank: 1 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 86
Scott is a fast-closing, athletic linebacker who makes his presence known with disruptive plays from the outside. This guy brings a lot of coveted qualities to the position as he can run sideline to sideline, hold up in space and create havoc off the edge as a pass-rusher. Will cover a lot of ground in a hurry but also break down and tackle and defend well in space. Ceiling is extremely high for this rangy linebacker.

DE Solomon Thomas
Coppell, Texas/Coppell
College: Undecided

ESPN 150 rank: 30 | Position rank: 5 | Stars: 4 | Grade: 86
Thomas is a steady and productive defensive lineman. As a blocker, you better know your assignment and be sharp with your technique because odds are Thomas will be. He is a 3-4 end for his high school, which could be a good fit for him at the next level. But if he plays in a scheme that uses a four-man front, he might need to slide inside.
